Many years ago, I came to the realization that my education was lacking. In the years that I was in high school there were choices of what classes you wished to take. So, unknowingly, I missed out on reading many of the classic books required. Since then I pick up a classic novel every so often to complete my education and widen my horizons. As if working on my Masters degree isn't doing that completely enough!
So, I have just completed reading "The Scarlet Pimpernel" by Baroness Emmuska Orczy. This book was actually a quick read. The story was written in 1905 about the French Revolution. It was exciting following the scarlet pimpernel as he employed clever disguises to get past the guards. There was a love story and unexpected humor that I found, well, unexpected! I found it very interesting that when I looked up the flower, the scarlet pimpernel, it is considered a weed and so it is overlooked, much as the man named the scarlet pimpernel.
So cross another classic off the list. What is next you ask? You will just have to stay tuned.
